Film Review Friday: Burlesque (2010)

I really wanted to see Burlesque when it came out at the cinema as I love Cher, Christina Aguilera and Stanley Tucci, but unfortunately I missed it, so I was excited to see it pop up on LoveFilm instant.

It’s a great film andΒ I really enjoyed it. It reminded me a lot of Coyote Ugly and Chicago, which was fine by me as I love both of those films πŸ™‚ A lot of the reviews I read afterwards complained that it was “a vehicle for Christina” but I didn’t agree. Yes, she played the main character, so I expected to see her in it quite a bit, but I felt that there were enough scenes with other characters to make it a well-rounded film. Christina’s acting was really good. I especially liked the scenes between Christina and Cam Gigandet, though at times I did feel like I was an intruding gooseberry as their chemistry was fantastic!

It was a brilliant film, with fabulous songs, characters you cared about and made you feel all smiley inside πŸ™‚
