As well as currently knitting a blanket for my auntie, I am also going to be knitting baby booties. I don’t have any exciting pregnancy news, I’m knitting them to be included in packs that go to hospitals and families where babies were born too soon. I enjoy knitting and it’s the least I can do. This is my first bootie and was knitted in rainbow wool as a prototype, but the actual booties will be white wool.
I’m knitting them for a branch of ‘Angel Wings Forever Dressed in Love’. They provide clothes, gowns, bonnets, nappies, shawls, blankets and teddy’s made from donated wedding dresses for babies gone too soon. You can find out more about their amazing work here: https://www.facebook.com/Foreverdressedinlove
As I mentioned in my post https://littlemisschocchoc.wordpress.com/2015/11/29/all-about-knitting, I wanted to get back into knitting after not having knitted for 25 years! I’ve completed four squares so far and I’m part-way through my fifth. We’re going to be watching films later so I’ll knit more then. The first one took me four hours to complete but happily I am much faster now! I’ll post again when the blanket is complete as I don’t think it will take long to complete. I’ll then be looking for a new project! Knitting is just so therapeutic and I’m so glad that I’ve gotten back into it 🙂
P.S. Sorry about my hand being in the shadows, it’s the only way I could take the pic 🙂
Back in 1991/1992, when I was 13, I knitted a baby blanket for my mum as she was pregnant with my little brother. This was the only time I knitted anything, but recently I’ve decided to get back into it. Back then, I used my mum and grandma’s leftover wool to make the blanket out of patchwork squares, so I never needed to know anything about 2 Ply, DK or weights of wool. I felt all sea on a knitting supply website because I had no idea what I wanted! I found the below video on YouTube and I found it really useful.
I also love the video below as I had completely forgotten how to knit! I love her bloopers at the end too 😀
I can’t wait to get started making a new baby blanket – haha not for me, there will be no pregnancy announcements from me! I really want to donate my blankets to charity, there are quite a few to choose from on this page:
I have been a craft fan as long as I can remember but life has a habit of getting in the way of hobbies, and before you know it, you haven’t crafted anything in aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages. I have found a few ideas online that I’m so excited to try so I thought I’d share them with you!

As mentioned in a previous post, Jennifer at Winter Owls (http://winterowls.com/) has inspired me to start being all crafty, so I ordered some supplies from eBay. My first package has already arrived! One of the things I ordered was 50g of mixed buttons in various colours and sizes for 99p. You can see them below!
I’ve picked out some favourites:
I’m also waiting on some sewing needles (we did have some in the house but I really wanted my own), a bag of 100 small mixed buttons and “lucky dip” vintage fabric scraps (the eBay advert says “No piece will be less than 4″ x 4″ in size, and no two pieces will be the same. All scraps of fabric will be cleaned and ironed. Lucky dip, you won’t know what you are going to receive until it arrives! We have a mixture of florals, stripes, plain fabric and many more.”)
I’m so excited for the rest of my orders to get here so that I can start to make things! 😀
When I was 13, my mum got pregnant with my little brother. My grandma was big into knitting, and always brought her knitting bag with her when she would come and babysit me and my other brother. I was inspired by my grandma to make a knitted blanket for my baby brother so I made knitted squares out of scrappy bits of wool, and eventually I sewed it together. I was really pleased with it and I was so proud when we used it to keep my brother all toasty warm. That was 22 years ago now, and I have no idea where that blanket is now 😦
Unfortunately, life got in the way, and my interest in making craft-type things had to take a backseat. It was still firmly on the backseat until I saw a post by Jennifer at Winter Owls (http://winterowls.com/2013/11/28/snipping-and-stitching/) where she had made some really cute animal brooches with material and buttons she had in her collection. She has inspired me to start making craft things again and I’m really looking forward to going to the craft shop in town and buying my first supplies, I’ve already got so many ideas for things to make! Plus, I’m looking forward to sharing them on my blog. I’m so grateful that I saw Jennifer’s post 😀
